Aker Yards has signed an agreement with Kleven Maritime to acquire Kleven Florø AS, and Kleven Design AS. Both entities are located in Florø, Norway. The acquisition strengthens Aker Yards' Merchant Vessels Business Area by adding a product range of highly specialized chemical tankers, meeting customer demand and new regulatory requirements. The previously announced joint venture with Damen Shipyard Group in Ukraine creates an opportunity for Aker Yards to develop a new highly competitive line of chemical carriers in combination with Kleven tanker know-how.

Brambles agrees to sell Cleanaway UK

Brambles announced that it had agreed to sell Cleanaway UK to Veolia ES Holdings plc, a subsidiary of Veolia Environnement S.A., a world leader in environmental services.
The total cash consideration for the sale is £595 million (US$1,081 million). In addition, Veolia has assumed responsibility for the defined benefit pension funds of Cleanaway UK, which had an FRS17 deficit of £56 million (US$101 million) as at 30 June 2005.

Con-way and General Motors to Enter Discussions Regarding Purchase of Vector SCM

Con-way Inc. disclosed that it received notice from General Motors Corporation of its intent to exercise its call right and enter into negotiations to purchase Vector SCM, LLC, the joint venture formed by Menlo Worldwide, LLC, Con-way’s global contract logistics subsidiary, and GM in December 2000 to deliver lead logistics provider services for GM’s global supply chain.

Deutsche Bahn Buying Bax Global for USD1.1B

German railroad Deutsche Bahn AG is buying BAX Global, a U.S.-based logistics company owned by Brink’s Co., for about $1.1 billion in cash, Brink’s said Wednesday.BAX Global, an international freight transportation and supply chain management company, is based in Irvine, Calif., and has some 12,000 employees.
