Business confidence has increased markedly over the last quarter in a key sector of the UK economy, according to the results of a survey published today. The second quarterly Business Confidence Index, commissioned by Palletline plc, the UK’s leading pallet distribution network, questioned owners and directors of haulage companies across the UK about the health of their business, current trading conditions and their outlook for the future.

Port of Felixstowe Takes Delivery of Additional Yard Cranes

The Port of Felixstowe has welcomed the arrival of nine rubber-tyred gantry cranes from Zhenhua Port Machinery Company (ZPMC) of Shanghai. The cranes have been transported – fully erected – by sea from China, a journey that has taken nine weeks. Following full commissioning tests, it is anticipated that the cranes will be fully operational within a short time.

Port Of London: Welcome for riverside energy plant

A strong welcome for the Government announcement on the new energy from waste facility has come from the Port of London Authority. Energy Minister Malcolm Wicks announced that he has granted consent to Cory Environmental to build an energy from waste facility on the side of the Thames at Belvedere in Bexley. This will be London's first river-served energy from waste facility. This is designed to process up to 585,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste, which would otherwise have gone to landfill.

ProLogis Leases 900,000 Square Feet of Industrial Space to Customers in the UK

ProLogis (NYSE: PLD), a leading global provider of distribution facilities and services, announced that it has signed new lease agreements totaling approximately 900,000 square feet (83,600 square meters) of space in the United Kingdom. 
The five leases vary in size from 55,000 to 387,000 square feet at various ProLogis facilities in London, the West Midlands and northwest England. All of the agreements are for previously unleased inventory or for space that is due to be completed later this year.
