-Purchase contributes to reduction in harmful particulate and nitrogen oxide emissions
TNT N.V. has ordered 176 trucks fitted with Euro V engines for use in the Netherlands and the European road network. With the purchase of Euro V trucks, TNT aims to reduce the harmful effects of its fleet on people and the environment. TNT is one of the first companies in the Netherlands to opt for Euro V engines, placing it far ahead of the European environmental legislation, which will not come into effect until October 2009

 Network acquisition provides TNT with 80% household coverage
TNT Post UK, the leading competitor to Royal Mail in the UK postal market, today announces the acquisition of the JD Williams courier network. This development provides an entry for TNT Post UK to Business to Consumer (B2C) and Consumer to Consumer (C2C) parcel and packet delivery markets, providing 80 per cent coverage in the United Kingdom.

Sterling service paid dividends for TNT when the company secured a prestigious award-win from The Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS). TNT was singled out to take the title 'Best Services Supplier' after reducing costs and delivering increased service efficiency in its role as the Bank's exclusive distributor of cheques, internal mail and commodities supplies.

DESPITE ITS POSITION as the No. 1 operator in the European express market and the world’s second-largest logistics provider, the recent boom in the logistics sector hasn’t shaken speculation that former Dutch mail monopoly TNT is a potential takeover target. It has achieved solid growth during the past four years, but still lacks the heft of industry giants such as FedEx Corp. or Deutsche Post AG and has been distracted by an investigation into tax liabilities.
