BAX Global Continues Expansion of China Network

BAX Global, a world-leading provider of supply chain management and transportation solutions, has opened a new office in China to meet growing demand in the country.
The new BAX office in Nanjing will expand the company’s countrywide network, which now consists of four Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprises (WFOE), six branch offices, nine representative offices and one joint venture.
BAX Global has been well established in China since the early 1990s and was one of the first international forwarders to open a representative office in Beijing. BAX established it’s first WFOE in China under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) in Guangzhou in April 2004 and Shanghai in December of that year. BAX had previously established WFOEs in Xiamen, Shenzhen and Shanghai Wai Gao Qiao in accordance with China's Free Trade Zone arrangements.

Biendong Shipping Company and MOL Launch Joint Container Service Linking Vietnam and Singapore

Biendong Shipping Company and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced the launch of the new joint container service (VSS) linking Haiphong, Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore. VSS shall deploy two of 610 TEU container vessels, one operated by BIENDONG and the other by MOL. These vessels are newly built by Vinashin Shipyard in 2006 with GL class and owned by BIENDONG.

Maersk Contractors Declares the Option for a Third Deepwater Development Semi-submersible

A.P. Moller - Maersk has declared the option for a third deepwater development semi-submersible at Keppel FELS limited in Singapore. The new rig is expected to be delivered in March 2010.
Similar to its sister rigs the rig will be able to operate at water depths of up to 10,000 ft and is designed for areas such as offshore West Africa, Brazil, the Gulf of Mexico and Southeast Asia.

Maersk Launches New European Service at YICT

On 14 August 2006, YICT welcomed a new European (AE3E) service operated by Maersk. The shipping line has deployed seven 5,000-TEU container vessels to the line-haul route, which includes a port rotation of Nanshan, Tanjung Pelepas, Suez Canal, Port Said, Damietta, Gioia Tauro, Port Said, Suez Canal, Singapore, Yantian, Nagoya, Yokohama and Shimizu. This new service calling at YICT is a direct response to an increase in demand for European routes during the peak shipping season.
