DB supports development of Chinese high speed transport network / Exchange of goods between Europe and China to be diverted to rail.
Chinese Rail and Deutsche Bahn AG are planning to work more closely together in future. An agreement to this effect was signed today in Beijing by Rail Minister Liu Zhijun and DB’s CEO Hartmut Mehdorn. Also present were the Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao, and the German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is currently on a state visit to China.

East Star receives its first Airbus A319

The first Airbus A319 leased by East Star Airlines, a new Chinese airline, took to the sky successfully for its premier revenue flight from Wuhan to Shenzhen, making East Star Airlines a new Airbus A319 operator on the Chinese Mainland.  Configured in a two-class layout, the aircraft provides spacious capacity for 128 passengers. East Star plans to put this A319 into service on its newly opened trunk routes connecting Wuhan, Shenzhen, Haikou and Guangzhou.

Guangdong logistics firm to raise $500m in IPO

South-China Logistics, a company controlled by state-owned Guangdong Provincial Communications Group, hopes to raise about HK$400 million to HK$500 million in the fourth quarter in an initial public offering in Hong Kong, market sources said.

The Guangdong-based firm, which picked China Everbright Capital as its sponsor, will use the funds raised to fund its expansion.
