Airbus Chooses Site for Chinese Factory

Airbus and the Chinese government announced Thursday that they had selected Tianjin, a port near Beijing, as the site for a planned assembly plant to produce Airbus A320 narrow-body jets. Airbus cautioned that a final decision to go ahead with the project would not be made until the end of September. But the selection of Tianjin is the latest in a series of steps by Airbus toward establishing its first aircraft assembly operation outside Europe, with the goal of catching up with Boeing in the fast- growing Chinese market.

Doug J. Marchand, Executive Director of the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), the Grand Alliance, comprised of OOCL, NYK Hapag-Lloyd, and the New World Alliance, comprised of APL, MOL and Hyundai Merchant Marine announced the addition of the Asia-East Coast service (also known as the EC3 service), a new express, all-water service between Asia and Savannah via the Panama Canal.

BAX Global Continues Expansion of China Network

BAX Global, a world-leading provider of supply chain management and transportation solutions, has opened a new office in China to meet growing demand in the country.
The new BAX office in Nanjing will expand the company’s countrywide network, which now consists of four Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprises (WFOE), six branch offices, nine representative offices and one joint venture.
BAX Global has been well established in China since the early 1990s and was one of the first international forwarders to open a representative office in Beijing. BAX established it’s first WFOE in China under the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) in Guangzhou in April 2004 and Shanghai in December of that year. BAX had previously established WFOEs in Xiamen, Shenzhen and Shanghai Wai Gao Qiao in accordance with China's Free Trade Zone arrangements.
