1. Van Oord to dredge in Oman

Gorinchem - The 'Rotterdam' port in Oman has awarded the contract for the construction of a quay wall with a length of over two kilometres, together with the associated dredging works to a consortium under the leadership of the Gorinchem dredging company Van Oord. Also working on this project are BAM subsidiary Interbeton and the Belgian Six Construct.


2. Volvo Trucks secures major Hungarian order

Volvo Trucks' Hungarian subsidiary, Volvo Hungary Trading and Services Kft, has received an order for 1,000 trucks from Waberer's Optimum Solution, a transportation and logistics company. The trucks will be delivered over a three-year period.

Vector SCM, the global logistics management joint venture between Con-way (NYSE:CNW) and General Motors, has successfully rolled out its European Vehicle Visibility (EUVV) program for General Motors Europe (GME), providing comprehensive outbound logistics visibility and exception management of finished vehicles to all GME dealers across Europe covering all modes.


4. Visteon Corporation Names Ryder as Top Supplier

Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions,  announced it was named "Global Visteon Important Partner of the Year 2005" by Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC) for exemplifying "Best in Class" performance and year-over-year consistent performance.

5. Vilnius: Construction of Customs Terminal

A large Russian logistic integrator - "Transsphere” group of companies is constructing a customs terminal in Vilnius. The group’s president Sergey Shidlovsky said that CJSC "Vinges Transsphere Logistika” is responsible for the construction. The CJSC was launched in cooperation with "Vinges Terminalas" CJSC.

6. VR and Transcontainer establish JV for easter container services

VR Ltd and Russian Railways subsidiary Transcontainer have signed a letter of intent to establish a joint venture by the end of June.The new company will market container transport services to Russia, other CIS countries and, via the Trans-Siberian railway, to China, Korea and other countries in South-East Asia.

7. Vietnam's Largest Shipyard, Containerships Being Built

Viet Nam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) is reported to have invested almost VND600 billion (US$37.71 million) to build Vietnam's largest shipyard that will be located in Nhan Trach district in southern Dong Nai province, the country's state media reported.


8. Volvo Group premieres hybrid technology for heavy vehicles

9. Volvo Construction Equipment China signed its biggest sales contract to date

Volvo Construction Equipment China (Volvo CE China) signed a contract for delivery of 36 Volvo A40D articulated haulers and six L220E Volvo wheel loaders for the first phase of Alumina Mining Project of Guangxi HuaYin.

11. Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik presents new locomotive design
(News/Railways)

Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik, a subsidiary of Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. KG in Kiel, presented the design of its new diesel-hydraulic six-axle locomotive in Heidenheim on 18 January 2006. Voith Turbo Lokomotivtechnik is currently in the process of developing and building a locomotive for heavy goods transport. With an optional rail energy supply system, this locomotive will also be suitable for passenger services.


12. Vladivostok Container Terminal: Results of the Year
(News/Sea)

In 2005 the throughput of OOO Vladivostok Container Terminal (VCT) amounted to 124,731 TEU, 17.72% up year-on-year.
Handling of loaded containers increased by 20.47%, that one of empty containers grew by 13.61%. Coastal trade volume increased by 0.15% year-on-year, import freight handling grew by 40.29%, export cargo handling increased by 23.74%.
In December 2005, VCT handled 12,980 TEU, 27.82% up year-on-year. In December the terminal handled 5,155 TEU of export, 4,105 TEU of import and 3,720 TEU of coastal trade.

13. Vos Logistics realizes the extension of its silo terminals in Feluy and Terneuzen

Vos Logistics has recently realized the extension of its silo terminals in Feluy and Terneuzen. With this extension the terminal in Feluy has become the largest inland terminal in Western Europe. With these extensions Vos Logistics anticipates on the volume increase of its customers.


14. Vitran Completes Sierra West Express Acquisition
(News/Logistics)

Vitran Corporation Inc. (NASDAQ:VTNC)(TSX:VTN), a North American transportation and logistics firm, announced that it has closed its purchase of the assets of Sierra West Express, Inc., a regional less-than-truckload (LTL) freight carrier with operations in the Western U.S. The transaction was previously disclosed via a December 19, 2005 news announcement, and adds eight new terminals - in California, Nevada and Arizona - to Vitran's growing North American LTL freight network.

15. Volkswagen to Deliver 13,600 Vehicles to Deutsche Post

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will deliver 13,600 vehicles to Deutsche Post World Net over the next two years. The Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, Bernd Pischetsrieder, symbolically handed over the key for the 5,000th vehicle to Board Chairman of Deutsche Post World Net, Klaus Zumwinkel on Thursday in Hanover.
