1. NYK opens Scandinavian Distribution Centre
(News/Logistics)

NYK Logistics (Scandinavia) has just moved to a new centrally located purpose built 27,000m² Scandinavian Distribution Centre (SDC) in Gothenburg.
This new warehouse brings together NYK's logistics activities in one 260,000m³ facility which incorporates high bay racks as well as narrow and broad aisles. The large mezzanine floor is ideal for pick and pack activities. In addition, the site benefits from 24 hour class 2 security, including electric fencing.


2. Northern Plains Commerce Centre Announces Agreement with United Pulse Trading

At a Golden Spike ceremony marking the completion of its Phase I development and rail line, The Northern Plains Commerce Centre (NPCC) announced it has reached an agreement to provide United Pulse Trading with a 90,000 square foot facility for the processing of global agricultural products.


3. Norfolkline to sell Norfolk Line Containers B.V. to DFDS A/S

The buyer is DFDS Tor Line, a leading North European liner shipping operator, which is part of DFDS Group founded in 1866 and listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange
Norfolkline, a leading multimodal short sea carrier in North Europe, has today signed an agreement for the divestment of its Container Division – Norfolk Line Containers B.V. The buyer is DFDS Tor Line, a leading North European liner shipping operator, which is part of DFDS Group founded in 1866 and listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.


4. NYK Logistics secures additional contract with Samsung

Recently voted the world’s leading consumer electronics brand and one of the world’s Top 100 brands overall, Samsung has entrusted its entire UK consumer products supply chain to NYK Logistics with a new three year contract. Building on NYK’s existing business for Samsung’s consumer electronics, mobile phone and camera divisions, the new three year contract is for the nationwide distribution of Samsung’s white goods product ranges.


5. NC State Ports Cargo Volumes Continue to Climb

Fifth Consecutive Year of Growth Predicted.
The North Carolina State Ports Authority wrapped up fiscal year 2006 on June 30 with record annual revenues and its largest profit in 15 years, and plans to repeat the performance in the new fiscal year just begun.
Double-digit growth in container business and bulk cargo at the Port of Wilmington, and in breakbulk cargo at the Port of Morehead City, combined for the Authority's fourth consecutive year of growth. Breakbulk cargo refers to commodities like rubber, lumber, steel and woodpulp, shipped in units such as bundles, pallets or bins. Bulk cargo is products which flow, like fertilizer or salt.


6. Ningbo Bonded Logistics Park developing well

Ningbo Bonded Logistics Park has opened for two months and its business is developing quite well. By 11th June, the park has handled 71 businesses.  Foreign trade in the park reached 6.93 million dollars. Cargos throughput was 3.906 thousand tons. Moreover, logistics enterprises in the park have reached 30.

7. NYK fits more pieces in Land Rover jigsaw

NYK Logistics has been awarded a further contract with Land Rover to manage the supply of components to point of fit on the Defender and Range Rover production lines at Solihull.


8. Ningbo Port Group signed two large Investment Contracts

In the Zhejiang Investment & Trade Symposium, Ningbo Port Group signed two large investment contracts and each investment reached 780 million RMB.

9. New Interface for Switzerland and Europe
(News/Logistics)

Effective June 21, 2006, Schenker put a new, ultra-modern logistics terminal into operation in Eiken, Switzerland, just off the Basel-Zurich autobahn. The facilities replace the previous Pratteln site near Basel.
In the presence of customers and representatives of the public sector, the new facilities of Schenker Schweiz AG were officially opened for business, which will focus primarily on high-quality land transport services. The terminal is integrated into the European and national network traffics.

10. Ningbo Port created Brand 5F for Iron Ore Handling Business

In this May, according to customer feedback on service quality, Ningbo Port Beilun Stock Limited Company did many amendments on conditions of shipboard, aisle, illumination and port traffic that won praises from shipping companies and consignors. It demonstrated that 5F branding activity for iron ore handling business produced substantial and good effects.

11. NCC Signs SR 1.13 Billion Deal for Tankers

An SR 1.13 - billion contract for the manufacture of six tankers for National Chemical Carriers (NCC) was signed here yesterday.
Faisal Saud Al-Saleh, NCC board chair¬man, signed the contract with Su Eun Yoo, chairman of Shina Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. of Korea, for building six chemical tankers of 45,000 deadweight tons apiece. The new ships will be delivered in 2009-10.

12. NYK Bulkship (Europe) Ltd. Secures Long-Term Charter Contract with ENEL S.p.A.
(News/Sea)

NYK Bulkship (Europe) Ltd., a British subsidiary of Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK Line), has secured a long-term charter contract with Italy's largest power supplier, Enel S.p.A. (ENEL). The contract calls for the use of two post-Panamax carriers for ten years. This is the first long-term charter contract that the NYK Group has secured with a European power supplier.


13. NYK To Build New Coal Carrier for Chugoku Electric Power Company
(News/Sea)

Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) has decided to build and deploy a new vessel as a replacement for the coal carrier Sanyo Maru, which is currently engaged in coal transport for the Chugoku Electric Power Company.
Three coal carriers - Sanyo Maru, Sekiyo, and Sage Sagittarius - operated by NYK currently transport coal from abroad for Chugoku Electric. Sanyo Maru was built in 1984 and was the first coal carrier for the power company. Because of the vessel's age, NYK has decided to build and deploy a replacement in order to ensure the sustained safety and stability of the transport of coal, and NYK and Chugoku Electric have concluded a long-term contract for the operation of the new vessel. This contract will bring to 30 the total number of coal carriers operated by NYK.


14. NYK Logistics expands JIT solution for Meridian
(News/Logistics)

NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd has expanded its supply chain solution to meet increased volumes for specialist automotive castings company, Meridian Technologies United Kingdom (MTUK).  Established in Canada 25-years ago, MTUK started production at a new Nottingham facility in July 2003. The company is a global leader in the production of magnesium die casting automotive parts.


15. New FPSO to join Maersk Contractors’ fleet
(News/Sea)

Maersk Contractors has entered into a seven-year contract with Woodside Energy Ltd. Maersk will be providing a Floating Production and Storage Offloading vessel (FPSO) on service agreement basis, for development of Woodside’s Vincent oil discovery 50 km North West of Exmouth in Western Australia.
