1. Lufthansa Technik to work with Ural Airlines

Contract covers Airbus A320-200 fleet   
Ural Airlines, the sixth largest carrier in Russia, and Lufthansa Technik, the leading provider for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of airplanes, components and engines, signed a technical support agreement for the new Airbus A320-200 fleet. The initial two Airbus aircraft will join Ural Airlines´ fleet in September and will be complemented by an additional four A320 in 2007.

4. Lufthansa Cargo Now Routing all Freighter Flights to and from Asia via Kazakhstan

Lufthansa Cargo is now routing its freighter flights to and from Asia via Kazakhstan. Stopover in Astana will shorten flight times and simplify operations. In the future, all the carrier's MD-11 aircraft on routes to and from Japan and China will stop over in the Kazakh capital Astana. Crews will change there and freighters will be refuelled before continuing their flight to Asia.

5. Lufthansa Cargo takes over marketing of AirMadrid’s cargo capacity

Dr. Andreas Otto: “Cooperation is massively strengthening ourpresence in South America“. From 1 September, Lufthansa Cargo will be responsible for the marketing of cargo capacity and freight handling for AirMadrid across the Spanish carrier’s entire network. Amongst other things, the cooperation will enable Lufthansa Cargo to offer its customers even denser network coverage on routes to and from South America.


6. Logistics partners target expansion

Global logistics group, Worldwide Project Consortium Ltd, was well positioned to maximise partnership opportunities in emerging heavy-lift gateways, particularly China, India, Thailand and central Africa, according to the organisation’s general manager Kevin Stephens.

7. Large Rotterdam delegation travelling to China

Mayor Opstelten is to visit Beijing and Shanghai from 27 May to 2 June. He will be leading a delegation of almost 100 people, and will be actively supported by the chairmen of the Chamber of Commerce, the Rotterdam Port Promotion Council and the CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, Mr. Hans Smits. The entrepreneurs in the delegation will also visit the cities of Nanjing and Ningbo.


8. Lufthansa: Jens Bischof named new Vice President The Americas

Jens Bischof (40), formerly Senior Manager Project Integration SWISS, has been appointed Vice President The Americas, with effect from 1 September. Based in New York, he will be responsible for the entire Lufthansa organisation in North and South America. His remit will cover all operative functions, sales, marketing and the Lufthansa stations.

9. Lufthansa adjusts fuel surcharge for long-haul flights

Short- and medium-haul flights unaffected by change
In response to the dramatic rise in oil prices, which have hit new record highs in recent days, Lufthansa is increasing its fuel charge for long-haul flights by ten euros. The fuel surcharge on long-haul tickets sold on or after 5 May will thus be raised to 62 euros per flight leg.

With the Lufthansa Private Jet service firmly on course for success, Lufthansa is continuing to expand its exclusive offer. In addition to the more than 1,000 destinations already served in Europe, customers can now travel in a Private Jet to any of the international airports in the Russian Federation, or fly from there to Europe.

11. Level playing a justified condition for postal market liberalisation

TNT has taken note of the Dutch government’s decision to fully liberalise the postal market in the Netherlands in 2008, on the condition that there is a level playing field at that time and that a solution has been found for the present VAT issue in the British and German postal markets and for other issues.

DHL employs new SAP module for stock control
DHL Exel Supply Chain is improving its IT environment: The DHL business division specializing in the development and implementation of logistics solutions is expanding its SAP system at selected storage warehouses with the new "Task and Resource Management" (TRM) module. With this module, all of the warehousing procedures will be able to be managed via a single integrated system in the future. 14. Leading Global Pigment Producer Selects Schneider Logistics for U.S. Transportation Services

Schneider Logistics, Inc., an international lead logistics provider and part of the Schneider National enterprise, announced that it has been selected by Tronox LLC (previously part of Kerr-McGee Corp.) to provide an integrated transportation and freight management solution for Tronox’s manufacturing facilities in the United States. Tronox LLC is an affiliate of Tronox Incorporated (NYSE: TRX), the world’s third-largest producer of titanium dioxide pigment.

15. Lufthansa has chosen SAS Ground Services for ground handling in Scandinavia

Lufthansa has signed an agreement with SAS Ground Services for ground handling in Scandinavia. The agreement covers ground handling services at Copenhagen Airport in Denmark, Oslo Lufthavn Gardermoen, Bergen and Stavanger in Norway, Stockholm-Arlanda and Landvetter-Gothenburg in Sweden.
