For the next five years, Kuehne + Nagel will manage the entire supply chain of one of Switzerland’s leading fashion retailers, Schild. Services encompass collection of high quality ladies’ and men’s clothing from suppliers in Asia and Europe, garment finishing services, and distribution to the 41 Schild outlets across Switzerland.
Following the announcement on 25 April 2006 Kuehne + Nagel UK and Scottish & Newcastle UK (“S&N UK”) have completed the deal that sees the creation of a new Kuehne + Nagel owned division, KN Drinks Logistics, which is now fully operational.The deal follows a period of detailed briefings and consultation with employees. All staff employed in the Kuehne + Nagel primary operations on behalf of S&N UK, and all S&N UK secondary distribution staff have transferred under TUPE into KN Drinks Logistics. The combined business has nationwide coverage through 22 depots, with around 850 vehicles and 2,900 people.
German company Robert Bosch GmbH, a manufacturer of industrial technology, consumer goods and building technology, has contracted Kuehne + Nagel for the operational design and management of a distribution centre in Wroclaw, Poland. The new facility will go into operation in late summer 2006.
Haier IT Europe, a division of one of the largest Chinese consumer electronics and IT companies, has chosen Kuehne + Nagel in the Netherlands as its strategic partner for the provision of end-to-end integrated supply chain services.
Every year, the Commercial Vehicle Systems division of Knorr-Bremse confers the internal Business Excellence Awards on its commercially most successful plants. The awards for 2005 were presented on April 7, 2006 during the International Group Meeting of Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH in Munich. The most successful plants last year - and therefore winners of the Business Excellence Award 2005 - were the Hasse&Wrede plant at Berlin (Germany) in the category "Improvement 2002-2005" and Bristol (Great Britain) in the category "Top Performance 2005".
Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE: KSU) today announced the appointment of two new officers and the promotion of two officers. Patrick J. Ottensmeyer has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer. Mr. Ottensmeyer brings over 25 years of financial experience to KCS. Most recently, he served as chief financial officer of Intranasal Therapeutics, Inc. He has also served as vice president finance and treasurer for BNSF Railway and senior vice president for Bank of America. He holds a bachelor of science in finance from Indiana University and is an executive in residence on the finance advisory board at DePaul University. Mr. Ottensmeyer will lead KCS' international finance department.
Kuehne + Nagel has officially opened its new office in Cancun to serve customers in Mexico’s southeast region.The new office is located in the immediate proximity of Cancun Airport, approximately 4 hours from Merida International Airport, and close to the ports of Puerto Morelos and Puerto Progreso with weekly sailings to the US and Europe.
