1. Jaeger is 12th Supramax Vessel to Join the Eagle Bulk Fleet

Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. (Nasdaq:EGLE), a global marine transportation company specializing in the Supramax segment of the dry bulk shipping industry, today announced that it has taken delivery of the Jaeger, a 2004 built 52,265dwt Supramax dry bulk vessel. The Company has now taken on-schedule delivery of the three vessels as per the acquisition agreement announced on June 23.

3. Japan’s logistics giants team up in Strategic Alliance

Two of Japan’s largest logistics providers, NYK Group and Yamato Group have announced that they are to form a Strategic Alliance.  In a statement, the two companies explained that the move had been brought about by the globalization of logistics business for both corporate and individual customers, as well as changing competitive landscapes in sea, land and air logistics business.


4. JETALLIANCE becomes new customer for Airbus A318 Elite

VIP charter operator JETALLIANCE of Austria is to acquire an A318 Elite, becoming a new customer for the smallest member of the Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) Family. The new deal is in addition to the ACJ order it placed earlier this month.

5. Jobs boost as TNT engages extra numbers
(News/Logistics)

Express delivery giant TNT is providing a further jobs boost to the North East with news of an additional 40 vacancies at the company's recently opened £4.5 million national customer contact centre at Team Valley near Gateshead.

TNT Express Services - the UK's leading business-to-business express delivery operator - moved into the new facility at Maingate House at the back end of last year and now expect to have a full complement of 240 employees by the end of 2006.


6. JAL Opens Safety Development Center To Promote Safety Awareness

The JAL Group has established a Safety Development Center featuring exhibits from incidents and accidents primarily as an aid to encourage flight safety awareness among employees.
Located in the maintenance district of Tokyo's Haneda Airport, the Japan Airlines Safety Promotion Center will open on April 24, 2006. It has been created in response to recommendations from a five man external panel of safety experts established by JAL in 2005 and chaired by Kunio Yanagida, a well-known writer specializing in scientific, aviation, and crisis management topics.

7. John Nurminen’s growth came from Russian operations in 2005

John Nurminen’s growth continued slowing down a little in 2005. The company’s turnover exceeded the 100 million euro limit and it was EUR 102 million. The profit before extraordinary items and taxes was EUR 13 million. The growth of John Nurminen’s three major fields of business was convincing. The trade and transit transport between Russia and Finland had a significantly positive effect on the development of business.


8. Johnson & Johnson awards European Distribution contract to TNT Logistics

US Healthcare Corporation Johnson & Johnson has awarded a five - year contract to operate a new European Distribution Center (EDC) to TNT Benelux & Multi Country Logistics.
The distribution center will be located in the Belgian town of Courcelles near Charleroi, and will go live in the 3rd quarter of 2006. The EDC is predicted to create between 120 - 160 new jobs by 2008.

9. Joint Venture Between DHL And Yamato

Prior Deutsche Post World Net is further expanding its international mail network: DHL Global Mail has reached an agreement with Yamato Holdings to form a joint venture in Japan for the Mail area. The new joint venture is the first of its kind in the country and will offer a full range of direct marketing services.

10. Japan Ready to Increase Freight Transportation via the Transsib

Japan is interested in opening a new container line between the port of Akita and the Russian Far East as well as in increase of freight transported via the Transsib, the head of the commercial policy group of the prefecture of Akita (Japan) Seigi Momma said today during his meeting with the head of the Transport Department of the Maritime Territory Administration Lev Panchenko.


11. Japan Airlines completes first step to oneworld membership

Wednesday, February 08 2006: Japan Airlines (JAL) and oneworld have exchanged a memorandum of understanding, completing the Asian carrier's first step towards joining the world's leading quality global airline alliance.
The agreement was signed just three months after JAL first indicated its intention to seek oneworld membership.
