1. DHL wins contract worth GBP 1.6 billion revenue over 10 years with the UK Government's Department of

DHL Logistics has won a 10-year deal totaling GBP 1.6 billion /Euro 2.3 billion in revenue to manage GBP 22 billion/Euro 32 billion total spend with the UK Government's Department of Health. DHL will target over GBP 1 billion/Euro 1.4 billion savings over the contract period back to the English National Health Service (NHS). Klaus Zumwinkel, CEO and Chairman of Deutsche Post World Net, said the contract marked the significant success of the Group's strategy: "After the take-over of Exel and given DHL's extensive expertise in the health sector, we were able to make our customer a truly convincing offer. We now reap the benefits of both our internationalization strategy and our broad product range."

2. DHL Breaks Ground on New Chicago Area Service Centre

DHL,  announced it has broken ground on a new, modernized service center operation just two blocks south of O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, IL. DHL will invest $7 million in the new 78,960-sq.-ft facility, which will serve DHL's local pickup, delivery and sorting operations. The new DHL Chicago service center is expected to be operational by early 2007. 

3. DHL Global Forwarding opens US $3 million Logistics Facility at Cengkareng

DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight arm of DHL, today reaffirmed its long-term commitment in Indonesia with the opening of a US $3 million state-of-the-art facility at Soewarna Business Park in Cengkareng, Jakarta.

4. D.Logistics improves net earnings in Q2 2006 by 32 %

Sales growth by 4.0 % to €78.5 million
Operating result (EBITA) totals €3.4 million and is burdened for the last time by the loss of Schumacher GmbH (€-0.74 million)
EBT totals €3.7 million (prior-year: €3.3 million)
Net earnings increased 32 % to €2.3 million (prior-year: €3.3 million)
Net financial debt reduced further by €2.9 million to €54 million

5. DHL makes offer for remaining shares of Blue Dart Express Ltd

Full ownership to enhance DHL's operating flexibility, streamline service offering
DHL  has offered to purchase the shares in Blue Dart Express Ltd it does not already own, and delist the Indian express company in a further step to strengthen and expand its market leading position in one of the world's fastest-growing markets. DHL, via its Singapore subsidiary DHL Express (Singapore) Pte Ltd, currently owns 81.03% of Blue Dart.

6. DHL takes over Deutsche Steinkohle logistics center in Hirschbach, Saarland

On Aug. 1, 2006, Deutsche Post World Net subsidiary DHL took over the Hirschbach logistics center of Deutsche Steinkohle AG (DSK), located in the German state of Saarland. The logistics specialists at DHL Exel Supply Chain will operate the center and assume 113 staff currently employed by DSK. As part of the deal, DHL will integrate the center within its existing global network and open it up for other customers, securing the long-term future and further development of the site.

8. DHL appoints seniot executive for humanitarian affair and emergency for the Americas

New Position to Provide Regional Oversight for all Disaster Preparedness and Response Efforts Including the DHL Disaster Response Team Americas 
 DHL, the world's leading express delivery and logistics company, today announced the creation of its new office of Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Management for DHL in the Americas. The company has appointed Dan Ludwig as Senior Vice President to oversee the new area effective immediately. 

9. DHL strengthens partnership with Malaysia's Transmile

DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company, announced that it has signed a long-term strategic network alliance with Transmile, an air cargo carrier based in Malaysia. The initial five-year agreement will allow DHL the flexibility to add new air services or upgrade existing service offerings to its customers.

Global marine terminal operator DP World has announced that it has been granted a 30 year concession to develop and operate a new container terminal in the southern zone of the Port of Callao, Peru. 

11. Double certificationa for Langkawi International Airport

Langkawi International Airport received the Aerodrome Certification from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), certifying that the airport has been audited and meets the Aerodrome Certification requirement by International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). This is a new mandatory requirement of ICAO, which requires all international airports open for public use to provide uniform safety conditions for all aircraft.

Delta Air Lines will be the only airline to offer customers nonstop service to five continents from metropolitan New York with the addition of new nonstop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Mumbai, India, and Accra, Ghana, effective Nov. 1 and Dec. 11, 2006, respectively*. The new service further demonstrates Delta’s commitment to growing its position as New York City’s leading airline.

13. DHL named primary privader for Wild Flavors

New Agreement Signed as Leading Food and Beverage Flavor Manufacturer Prepares  for International Growth.
Express import and export, as well as air and ocean import, export freight and customs house brokerage as WILD Flavors continues to expand into international markets. 
WILD Flavors ships its liquid, powder and manufactured flavorings for use in consumer products to food and beverage manufacturing plants in North America, Mexico, and worldwide from its distribution center in Erlanger, Kentucky. During the five-year relationship with WILD Flavors, DHL has transported flavor and ingredient samples and product concepts to customers and prospects for WILD Flavors' domestic customers and handled the import and export of large volumes of raw materials to manufacturing plants and finished product to distribution centers.

14. DHL and Air France Industries: The partnership takes off

DHL, the global leader in express and logistics, is now a key partner in France of Air France Industries, a specialist in airline maintenance. Already in charge of spare part logistics for Air France Industries, DHL has just taken over management of the distribution and return of its aeronautical parts across Europe. This is a growing partnership, as Air France Industries has just extended the contract to include one of its subsidiaries in France; Regional Compagnie Aérienne Européenne, which has its main hub in Clermont-Ferrand.
