1. Boeing Confirms Air Sahara Order for 10 737-800s

The Boeing Company confirmed a previously unidentified Air Sahara order for 10 Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes. Air Sahara placed the order in the first quarter of 2006 and was listed in the unidentified category on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries web site. Valued at more than $700 million at list prices, deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid 2009.

2. Boeing Names Nagpur as Site of MRO Facility in India

The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] named Nagpur city, located in the State of Maharashtra in central India, as the location for its planned regional maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility.
"We believe that Nagpur will be an excellent location for the Boeing MRO facility because of the tremendous investment being made in the area by both government and private companies," said Dinesh Keskar, vice president of Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Boeing is committed to helping strengthen India's air transport infrastructure by investing up to $100 million in this MRO facility."


3. Boeing Tells C-17 Suppliers Line May End in 2009

Due to the lack of U.S. government orders for the C-17 military cargo aircraft, The Boeing Company is directing program suppliers to stop work on uncommitted airplanes. This move will be the first step in an orderly shut down of the production supply chain should no further orders be received from the U.S. government.


4. Bombardier Aerospace Appoints Head of Business Aircraft Unit

Bombardier Aerospace announced  the appointment of Pierre Gabriel Côté as President, Bombardier Business Aircraft effective July 10, 2006.  Mr. Côté will head the Business Aircraft leadership team responsible for profit, cost, quality and customer management from order to delivery of Bombardier business aircraft.


5. Boeing, Aeromexico, ILFC Announce Deal for 787 Dreamliners

Aeromexico to become first Latin American airline to operate 787s
Airline will lease three new 787-8s from ILFC
 
 Boeing, International Lease Finance Corp. (ILFC) and Aeromexico, Mexico's largest airline, announced the carrier will operate three 787 Dreamliner airplanes, making it the first Latin American airline to incorporate the mostly composite airplane into its fleet.

6. Brambles agrees to sell Cleanaway UK
(News/Logistics)

Brambles announced that it had agreed to sell Cleanaway UK to Veolia ES Holdings plc, a subsidiary of Veolia Environnement S.A., a world leader in environmental services.
The total cash consideration for the sale is £595 million (US$1,081 million). In addition, Veolia has assumed responsibility for the defined benefit pension funds of Cleanaway UK, which had an FRS17 deficit of £56 million (US$101 million) as at 30 June 2005.

7. Broström takes delivery of BRO DESIGNER

BRO DESIGNER has been delivered from the Chinese yard Jinling Shipyard, Nanjing. BRO DESIGNER is the first sister vessel to BRO DELIVERER, which was named "Ship of the Year" by Lloyd’s List earlier this year.

BRO DESIGNER, which is a 14,500 dwt product tanker, is the second one of Broström’s four new D-class vessels. The remaining two vessels will follow in 2006. After her delivery from Southeast Asia BRO DESIGNER will be serving under Broström’s cargo contracts with the major oil companies in the European trade.


8. BLET convention update: Rail security remains key issue

AS VEGAS – The need to improve railroad security was once again a key topic here for delegates attending the BLET’s First Quadrennial Convention.  Yesterday, Teamsters General President James Hoffa addressed delegates regarding the need to boost railroad security in the current era of terrorist threats to the United States.


9. Biendong Shipping Company and MOL Launch Joint Container Service Linking Vietnam and Singapore

Biendong Shipping Company and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announced the launch of the new joint container service (VSS) linking Haiphong, Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore. VSS shall deploy two of 610 TEU container vessels, one operated by BIENDONG and the other by MOL. These vessels are newly built by Vinashin Shipyard in 2006 with GL class and owned by BIENDONG.


10. Bombardier Wins A $91 Million US Order From Docklands Light Railway
(News/Railways)

Bombardier Wins A $91 Million US Order From Docklands Light Railway For Automatic Light Rail Cars To Be Used In London, UK.
Bombardier Transportation announced today that it has received an additional order from Docklands Light Railway in London, for the design and build of 31 automatically guided light rail cars. The contract has a value of approximately £50 million ($91 million US) and the new vehicles are scheduled to be delivered between July 2008 and October 2009.

11. Boeing Begins Assembling the First 737-900ER
(News/Air)

Boeing begins final assembly of the first 737-900ER (Extended Range), the newest member of the world's most successful single-aisle airplane family. The wings and landing gear shown here are being joined to the 737-900ER fuselage in the Boeing manufacturing facility in Renton, Wash. Last-stage assembly and interiors installation will begin once the airplane joins the moving assembly line.

12. Bombardier Chooses Lufthansa Technik for CRJ Series Component Support
(News/Air)

Bombardier Aerospace announced  that Lufthansa Technik AG (LHT) has been selected to provide a Total Support Program (TSP) for worldwide operators of the Bombardier CRJ family of 50- to 90-seat regional jets. LHT, headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, is the world’s largest provider of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services and is also an approved overhaul facility for Bombardier CRJ aircraft components.


13. Boeing Delivers Final 717s
(News/Air)

Concludes Commercial Production in California
 Boeing delivered its final two 717 airplanes to Midwest Airlines and AirTran Airways in a ceremony before thousands of employees, retirees and dignitaries in Long Beach, Calif. The deliveries conclude commercial airplane production in Southern California that began in the 1920s with the Douglas Aircraft Co.


14. BA World Cargo announces new freighter schedule
(News/Air)

Following a strategic review of its services, BA World Cargo is this week announcing its new schedule, effective from 1 June 2006.  In a bid to address the eastern trade imbalance - an issue for many carriers - BA World Cargo will be increasing rotations from Europe and India with a twice weekly Hong Kong service, routing via Delhi and Frankfurt and a weekly Hong Kong service via Frankfurt.


15. Boeing 787 Team Reaches 25 Percent Release Milestone

Boeing announced that it has reached a major milestone in the design of the all-new 787 Dreamliner. The team has completed 25 percent of the releases required for the program. This means that one quarter of the pieces of information to build parts and tools for assembly have been completed and released to manufacturing organizations for fabrication or procurement.
