2. Alliances and GPA Announce “Asia-East Coast” Service to Call on Savannah

Doug J. Marchand, Executive Director of the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA), the Grand Alliance, comprised of OOCL, NYK Hapag-Lloyd, and the New World Alliance, comprised of APL, MOL and Hyundai Merchant Marine announced the addition of the Asia-East Coast service (also known as the EC3 service), a new express, all-water service between Asia and Savannah via the Panama Canal.


3. Avion Group mails offer to Atlas Cold Storage unitholders

Avion Group HF (ICEX: AVION) (“Avion Group”), an Iceland-based investment company specializing in air, land and sea transportation solutions worldwide, today announced it has mailed the formal documents for its offer to acquire all of the outstanding trust units (the “Units”) of Atlas Cold Storage Income Trust (TSX: FZR.UN) (the “Trust”) on the terms set out in its August 3, 2006 announcement.


4. ATA Unveils Model Motor Carrier/Broker Agreements
(News/Trucking)

With Department of Justice (DOJ) approval, ATA has released its long-awaited model agreements for structuring motor carrier and broker contractual relationships. On Aug. 10, 2006, the DOJ issued what is referred to as a business review letter that stated it had no present intention of challenging the ATA proposal to develop and publicize model carrier/broker agreements. That language signals the government’s position that the creation, distribution and use of the model agreements does not raise antitrust concerns.


5. APL launches new Baltic feeder service

APL has announced the launch of a new North Europe feeder service, the Lower Baltic Express (LBX). Commencing from Hamburg on June 5, APL will deploy the 400 TEU Euro Storm on a fixed-day, weekly frequency between Hamburg, Klaipeda (Lithuania) and Gdynia (Poland).

7. Alaska Airlines Introduces First Of Five 737-400 Cargo Aircraft

Airline Investing $100 Million In Cargo Operation To Meet Growing Demand 
 Alaska Airlines  introduced a Boeing 737-400 freighter to its cargo fleet, the first of five larger cargo aircraft the airline will put into service by the end of 2007. The all-cargo aircraft provides 50 percent more cargo capacity and more advanced flight guidance capabilities than the 737-200 it replaces.

8. Allport: Toasting New Opportunities

Allport's freight management contract with Asda has been extended to cover its globally sourced beers, wines and spirits (BWS) imports, bringing the total business managed annually to more than 25,000 containers.

9. Alpina Savoie calls on Geodis to manage its supply chain

10. AirTran Airways to Add 2,500 Jobs in Georgia Over Next Five Years

 Airline Joined by Governor Sonny Perdue for Announcement 
  AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), the parent company of AirTran Airways, today announced it will add an additional 2,500 jobs in Georgia over the next five years. AirTran Airways announced its anticipated contribution to the Georgia workforce during an event with Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue in the airline's hangar at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

12. Aker Yards enters chemical tanker market - acquires Kleven Florø shipyard and Kleven Design
(News/Sea)

Aker Yards has signed an agreement with Kleven Maritime to acquire Kleven Florø AS, and Kleven Design AS. Both entities are located in Florø, Norway. The acquisition strengthens Aker Yards' Merchant Vessels Business Area by adding a product range of highly specialized chemical tankers, meeting customer demand and new regulatory requirements. The previously announced joint venture with Damen Shipyard Group in Ukraine creates an opportunity for Aker Yards to develop a new highly competitive line of chemical carriers in combination with Kleven tanker know-how.

13. APM Terminals first customer for Maasvlakte 2
(News/Sea)

Port of Rotterdam Authority and APM Terminals have concluded an agreement, under certain conditions to be satisfied, for the lease of a container terminal on Maasvlakte 2. The terminal will amount to a maximum size of 167 hectares with a potential handling capacity of 4.5 million TEU.

14. Aeroflot, Vneshtorgbank and Vneshekonombank have signed loan agreements on financing of Sheremetyevo
(News/Air)

OAO "Aeroflot" have signed with OAO "Vneshtorgbank" and "Vneshekonombank" sales and purchase agreements regarding OAO "Terminal" shares. Pursuant to these deeds Vneshtorgbank has purchased from Aeroflot 25 percent plus 1 share, and Vneshekonombank has purchased 20 percent less two shares.


15. AirTran Airways Statement on Computer Upgrade
(News/Air)

AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc., (NYSE: AAI), yesterday began a planned upgrade of its internal reservations and airport check-in systems which will bring long term benefits to our customers. It required a preplanned shutdown of the system from 10 pm Monday, June 19, 2006, through 4:30 am this morning. The airline began experiencing passenger check-in problems early this morning that caused rollover delays into the early afternoon. This has resulted in long lines at a number of airports, primarily Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
