1. Zeeland: plan for container terminal

Vlissingen - the province of Zeeland plans to relaunch a procedure that it hopes will result in the construction of the Westerschelde Container Terminal (WCT). The terminal is an initiative of the Exploitatiemaatschappij Schelde-Maas (ESM), the partnership between Zeeland Seaports and the Port of Rotterdam Authority. An earlier plan for the container terminal was rejected by the Council of State in 2004.


2. ZCMP welcomes the carrier with the biggest loading

On 11 May 2006, Zhangzhou China Merchants Port welcomed the fully-loaded bean carrier "ARABELLS" which was anchored at the Berths #1 and #2. 225 meters long and 32.3 meters wide and possessing a loading capacity of 75,563 tons, the carrier is the bean carrier with biggest laoding ZCMP has ever welcomed. For years, ZCMP has developed into the largest foodstuff terminal as well as distribution and assembly center in Southeast coast for timber. In 2005, ZCMP handled some 1.11 million tons of foodstuff, a year-on-year increase of 30%. ZCMP possesses advanced and well-equipped facilities for foodstuff and timber and its operating efficiency stands at the industry's forefront.

3. Zhangzhou China Merchants Port set monthly record

Zhangzhou China Merchants Port set monthly record high in container throughput for April.
Zhangzhou China Merchants Port turned in an excellent performance in its container business with a container throughput of 15,036 TEUs which set a monthly record high. Despite facing fierce competition and having an economic hinterland constituted majorly in agricultural activities, ZCMP has adopted various measures to have enhanced staff training, improved operation efficiency and successfully expanded its market so as to sustain a good run in in container business alongside its thriving bulk and general cargo business.

4. Zooplus is a new customer at the Staufenberg DHL Logistics center

Starting July 2006, DHL Fulfilment is taking over the entire logistics operations for Zooplus AG in Germany and Austria. The business with Germany's leading online dealer of household pet supplies will first encompass one million parcels per year. Because of the European expansion plans of Zooplus, the shipment volume is to be increased to around 4 million parcels in the medium-term. The management of the customized integrated solution will be carried out by the new DHL Logistics center in Staufenberg.
