TNT N.V.  announced the acquisition of ARC India Limited which operates under the trade name Speedage Express Cargo Services, one of the leading road express companies in India.
This acquisition is a key component of TNT's Focus on Networks strategy as announced in December 2005. Acquiring Speedage is in line with TNT’s strategic objective to become the leading provider of express deliveries in the emerging markets in Asia, specifically India. Combining Speedage’s strong domestic road network with TNT’s international and domestic networks will form a powerful platform for further expansion in the fast growing Indian express market.

TNT Freight Management has secured a large-scale global contract with Electrolux Global Logistics. Having had a cooperation within the Nordic countries, TNT will now handle all air-freight for Electrolux, from Asia to Europe, within Asia and from Europe to the rest of the world.

In reaction to press coverage, TNT confirms the expected net proceeds of the announced sale of its logistics activities to lie between € 1.2 billion and € 1.3 billion at completion. A further description on the basis of what has been stated and explained on announcement is summarised below:

Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK; Head office: Tokyo; President: Koji Miyahara) and TCM Corporation (TCM; Head office: Osaka; President: Atsushige Ishiki) have agreed to conduct a test experiment for the practical use of a hybrid transfer crane* that has been jointly developed by the two companies.

The consultant should identify capacity expansion and improvements needed to meet the future traffic requirements of the Kochi port. TransCare Logistics India Pvt Ltd has been awarded the business plan contract of the Kochi port after completing the technical and financial evaluation phases of the Cochin Port Trust.

TNT Logistics has just increased the scope of services provided to BSH Continental, an association between the giant companies Bosch and Siemens that produces consumer goods in Brazil under the brand names Bosch and Continental. With this increased scope of services TNT becomes responsible for 100% of receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and production line feeding for compressors at BSH’s business unit in Hortolandia, Sao Paulo state.

TNT Home, the home delivery arm of TNT Logistics UK, has expanded its business with furniture marketing and design specialist, Scan –Thors (U.K.) Ltd, the exclusive supplier to Debenhams retail stores.
From July, TNT Home will undertake the home delivery of Scan –Thors (U.K.) Ltd’scabinet furniture, in addition to the upholstery, which it has been delivering throughout the UK since January this year.

Tsakos Energy Navigation Ltd. announced a three-year charter extension for its 2005-built double-hull 1C ice class Suezmax tanker Euronike to a large independent United States refiner, who has employed the vessel for the past  twelve months since her delivery from the shipyard.

TNT Logistics North America, a leading provider of supply chain services to the automotive industry, has renewed its largest contract to provide logistics services to Ford Motor Company’s F-series truck manufacturing plant in Kansas City. Since 2002, TNT has provided for the delivery and sequencing of parts going into this assembly plant. The contract extension renews the TNT/Ford relationship at this operation until 2009.
