1. Kuehne + Nagel: Textile logistics for fashion retailer Schild

For the next five years, Kuehne + Nagel will manage the entire supply chain of one of Switzerland’s leading fashion retailers, Schild. Services encompass collection of high quality ladies’ and men’s clothing from suppliers in Asia and Europe, garment finishing services, and distribution to the 41 Schild outlets across Switzerland.


2. KN Drinks Logistics deal completed

Following the announcement on 25 April 2006 Kuehne + Nagel UK and Scottish & Newcastle UK (“S&N UK”) have completed the deal that sees the creation of a new Kuehne + Nagel owned division, KN Drinks Logistics, which is now fully operational.
The deal follows a period of detailed briefings and consultation with employees. All staff employed in the Kuehne + Nagel primary operations on behalf of S&N UK, and all S&N UK secondary distribution staff have transferred under TUPE into KN Drinks Logistics. The combined business has nationwide coverage through 22 depots, with around 850 vehicles and 2,900 people.

Hans-Georg Brinkmann appointed Managing Director of Kühne + Nagel (AG & Co.) KG
Effective 1 July 2006, Hans-Georg Brinkmann (52) takes over as Managing Director of the German Kuehne + Nagel organisation with headquarters in Hamburg, and also assumes responsibility for the Central Europe Region comprising Germanyand Switzerland. He succeeds Ewald Kaiser, who is moving to the company’s corporate headquarters in Schindellegi, Switzerland, where he will focus on his responsibilities as Chief Operating Officer Rail & Road Logistics.

4. KempGoldberg and Schneider National Win Nine Compass Awards for Creative Marketing and Communication

5. Kuehne + Nagel to manage distribution centre for Robert Bosch in Poland

German company Robert Bosch GmbH, a manufacturer of industrial technology, consumer goods and building technology, has contracted Kuehne + Nagel for the operational design and management of a distribution centre in Wroclaw, Poland. The new facility will go into operation in late summer 2006.


6. Knight Transportation Announces Opening of Tulsa, Okla. Service Center

Knight Transportation Inc.  announced the official opening of its 30th service center. This new service center is located in Tulsa, Okla., and will provide dry van transportation services. The Tulsa center represents the 23rd service center providing dry van services in our growing nationwide network. In addition to the 23 dry van service centers, the network includes three Knight Refrigerated and four Knight Brokerage service centers.

7. KCS Subsidiaries Recognized at Annual Safety Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE: KSU) today announced that its subsidiaries, The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR) and Texas Mexican Railway Company (Tex Mex), were recognized with three safety awards at the annual E.H. Harriman Safety Awards ceremony, hosted by the Association of American Railroads in Washington, D.C. on May 16.

8. Kuehne + Nagel: End-to-end supply chain services for Haier IT Europe

Haier IT Europe, a division of one of the largest Chinese consumer electronics and IT companies, has chosen Kuehne + Nagel in the Netherlands as its strategic partner for the provision of end-to-end integrated supply chain services.


9. Knorr-Bremse presents internal Business Excellence Award 2005

Every year, the Commercial Vehicle Systems division of Knorr-Bremse confers the internal Business Excellence Awards on its commercially most successful plants. The awards for 2005 were presented on April 7, 2006 during the International Group Meeting of Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH in Munich. The most successful plants last year - and therefore winners of the Business Excellence Award 2005 - were the Hasse&Wrede plant at Berlin (Germany) in the category "Improvement 2002-2005" and Bristol (Great Britain) in the category "Top Performance 2005".


10. KCS Names New Finance Department Leadership

Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE: KSU) today announced the appointment of two new officers and the promotion of two officers. Patrick J. Ottensmeyer has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer. Mr. Ottensmeyer brings over 25 years of financial experience to KCS. Most recently, he served as chief financial officer of Intranasal Therapeutics, Inc. He has also served as vice president finance and treasurer for BNSF Railway and senior vice president for Bank of America. He holds a bachelor of science in finance from Indiana University and is an executive in residence on the finance advisory board at DePaul University. Mr. Ottensmeyer will lead KCS' international finance department.


11. Kuehne + Nagel opens Cancun office
(News/Logistics)

Kuehne + Nagel has officially opened its new office in Cancun to serve customers in Mexico’s southeast region.
The new office is located in the immediate proximity of Cancun Airport, approximately 4 hours from Merida International Airport, and close to the ports of Puerto Morelos and Puerto Progreso with weekly sailings to the US and Europe.


12. Knight Transportation Announces Opening of Chicago Brokerage Service Center

Knight Transportation Inc. (NYSE: KNX) announced the official opening of its 29th service center. This new service center is located in Chicago and will be operated by Knight Brokerage, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Knight Transportation Inc. The Chicago center represents the fourth brokerage service center in our growing nationwide network. Knight Brokerage was created in mid-2005 and complements our existing network of 22 dry van and three refrigerated service centers. Chairman and CEO Kevin Knight had the following comments:

A.T. Kearny, a world-leading management consultancy, yesterday officially honoured Switzerland’s most innovative companies. Logistics company Kuehne + Nagel was named “Best Innovator 2006”, with the highest score among all 30 participating companies.

14. Kuehne + Nagel to acquire groupage business from F.W. DEUS GmbH & Co. KG

Kuehne + Nagel is continuing the expansion of its overland activities with the takeover of the groupage cargo division from Oldenburg-based forwarder F.W. DEUS GmbH & Co. KG. This move further strengthens Kuehne + Nagel’s road transport operations in Germany.


15. Kingfisher Grows Its Airbus Fleet With Purchase Of Five A340-500 Toulouse

Kingfisher Airlines, the carrier headquartered in Mumbai, India signed a contract for five Airbus A340-500 and an option for five more, on Monday, April 24th, 2006, in Hannover, Germany. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in 2008. The aircraft are the latest high gross weight versions, allowing higher payloads to be transported. Dr Vijay Mallya, Chairman of Kingfisher Airline’s parent company UB Group, and Gustav Humbert, Airbus President and CEO, signed the deal in a ceremony attended by Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, German Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel and EADS CEO Dr Thomas Enders.
