- Fourth-Quarter Transactions Bolster Company Platform in Key 'Inland Empire' Market - ProLogis (NYSE: PLD), a leading global provider of distribution facilities and services, announced today that it has signed new leases totaling more than 1.5 million square feet in southern California's "Inland Empire."
The five leases vary in size from 180,000 to 439,000 square feet at various new and existing ProLogis properties in San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The leases all were signed in the fourth quarter of 2005. Customers include Burlington Coat Factory, CKE Restaurants, and Simpson Manufacturing.
"Demand for state-of-the-art industrial space is robust throughout the Inland Empire region, with vacancy rates now near historical lows," said Charles McPhee, ProLogis senior vice president and regional director of capital deployment. "ProLogis is fortunate to be operating from a position of real strength in this region, with the largest platform of finished property of any industrial provider. We're pleased to be attracting new companies to our facilities in the area and to be extending relationships with existing customers."
The new Inland Empire transactions include the following: * 439,000 square feet near San Bernardino International Airport leased to Burlington Coat Factory Warehouse Corporation, a New Jersey-based clothing retailer; * 432,000 square feet off the Pomona Freeway in Ontario leased to a leading U.S. appliance manufacturer; * 311,000 square feet off Interstate 15 in Ontario to a U.S. transportation and warehousing provider; * 201,000 square feet near the I-10/I-15 interchange in Ontario to CKE Restaurants, Inc., an operator and franchiser of leading restaurant chains, including Carl's Jr. and Hardees; * 180,000 square feet near the I-10/I-15 interchange to Simpson Manufacturing Co. Inc., a manufacturer of construction materials based in Dublin, Calif.
ProLogis is the largest owner of industrial distribution space in the Inland Empire, with more than 65 facilities totaling nearly 25 million square feet.
