- New Transactions Total More Than 1.1 Million Square Feet - ProLogis (NYSE: PLD), a leading global provider of distribution facilities and services, announced today that it has signed new lease agreements in the United Kingdom with three leading third-party logistics providers.
The leases comprise more than 1.1 million square feet (103,800 square meters) at various ProLogis facilities in the East and West Midlands and in Yorkshire, all key logistics and distribution areas. All three were signed in the first quarter of 2006 for inventory space that is newly completed or under construction.
"We continue to be pleased with the vitality we're seeing in the UK market," said Alan Curtis, ProLogis managing director. "Our company accounted for close to a quarter of all industrial leasing across the country in 2005, and the size and volume of new transactions has remained strong for us through the first part of the New Year. We look forward to forging close relationships with our new customers, and to further extending our position as the UK's largest industrial facilities provider."
Under the new transactions:
* 700,000 square feet (65,000 square meters) has been leased to Wincanton at ProLogis Park Kettering, a 120-acre industrial park the company operates in the East Midlands. Wincanton, a leading provider of supply chain solutions to companies in Europe, also leases more than 440,000 square feet (40,900 square meters) from ProLogis in several markets across Poland.
* 253,000 square feet (23,500 square meters) has been leased to E. Pawson & Son Ltd. at a ProLogis facility at Wakefield Europort in Yorkshire, one of northern England's largest distribution and manufacturing parks. E. Pawson is a private provider of distribution and warehousing services to agriculture and other industries in the UK.
* 165,000 square feet (15,300 square meters) has been leased to iForce at a ProLogis facility at The Fort Industrial Park in Birmingham, West Midlands. iForce is a UK provider of fulfillment, returns processing and other logistics services to enterprise customers.
