US Lines Signs up Patrick Stevedores in Australia Print
Patrick Stevedores has been chosen as the terminal operator in Australia for the new US Lines (USL) operation which gets under way later this month.  Announcing the appointment today, USL’s Australasian Vice President Noel Coom says the line had every confidence in the Patrick operation.

"It is important for USL, in breaking into the Australian market, to have a secure terminal relationship in place that will deliver surety of ship turnaround and cargo flows," he says. "We aim to create relationships with shippers and customer service standards that are second to none, and if we wish to deliver these qualities in the Australian marketplace we need to establish integrity in our sailing schedule.

"Terminal operation is a key element in achieving those standards, so we are very pleased to have Patrick on board as we begin to make a name for ourselves in Australia."

USL is expanding its current Pacific services by introducing new fixed-day independent southbound sailings directly between Los Angeles and Australia/New Zealand, new westbound services from New Zealand to Australia, and new export services from Australia to Hong Kong/South China and North America.

The service, known as ANZL, will commence this month with southbound sailings. Intermodal service will be provided from US interior points. Initially, the service will be fortnightly.

USL vessels will arrive in Melbourne on Wednesdays and progress through Sydney, Brisbane, Hong Kong and Los Angeles on their round trip. The first USL ship to arrive into Australia will be the Falcon 1 (voyage 603) due into Melbourne on August 30.

USL is a wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Lines Holdings Limited. With North American operations centered in Santa Ana, California, USL provides liner and logistics services in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and North America.
