Consortium withdraws from tendering procedure Maasvlakte 2 Print
The consortium Ballast Nedam – Per Aarsleff has withdrawn form the tendering procedure for the construction of Maasvlakte 2. This means that two combinations still remain in the race for realization of this land reclamation: the Dutch combination Boskalis - Van Oord and the Belgian group Dredging International - Jan de Nul. The three consortia had qualified for the tendering procedure at the end of last year.

The fact that Ballast Nedam and Per Aarsleff have decided against further participation in this procedure does not have any consequences for the project. The two remaining combinations are both highly suitable as regards size, knowledge and experience for execution of the first major contract for the construction of Maasvlakte 2. The Port Authority expects that the two consortia will therefore submit high-quality and financially attractive tenders.

The Port Authority expects to receive these tenders during the summer. Following assessment of these tenders the negotiations will take place in the winter of 2006-2007. These must result in a contract with one of the consortia during the course of 2007 so that construction can commence in the spring of 2008.
