Russian Railways' subsidiary TransKontainer and USCTS, in cooperation with colleagues from the Slavkov terminal in Poland, agreed to develop a joint business project to create logistics operations with competitive through fares during round table talks at the Strategic Partnership 1520 business forum in Sochi.
The cooperation agreement provides for the mutual use of platforms and containers and the cooperative freight transfer organisation on international routes involving Russia and Ukraine. "The Strategic Partnership 1520 forum singles out container routes with stable schedules and freight delivery speeds. Most of these routes coincide with international travel corridors, allowing us to use them not only in their current form, but also to plan for future transportation systems offering multimodal services," said Peter Baskakov, Director General of TransContainer. "The strategic purpose of Russian Railways is to continue our railways logistics outside the Trans Siberian line. Logistics terminals will form the links of this chain in major transport centers such as Brest, Zahon in Hungary and Slavkov in Poland," said Baskakov. Source: Press Release
