Vos Logistics has recently realized the extension of its silo terminals in Feluy and Terneuzen. With this extension the terminal in Feluy has become the largest inland terminal in Western Europe. With these extensions Vos Logistics anticipates on the volume increase of its customers.
Feluy
Till the beginning of 2005 Feluy had 90 silos of 500 m³ each with a capacity of 280 tonnes polypropylene per silo. In 2000 the terminal of Vos Logistics was built for a production capacity of 400 kilo tonnes per year. With the extension this will be increased to 500,000 tonnes. To be able to process this kind of amount the storage capacity had to be extended with 30 silos, in full production, up to a total of 120 silos, including packaging floor. This was realized in a period of less than 6 months. With an average schedule of 100 loadings each day, one can say this is quite an achievement. The terminal in Feluy belongs to the most modern and innovative silo terminals in the world. The warehouse management system is completely customer-specific and consists of amongst others a real time stock system. The sytem integrates all movements at the site. It communicates both with the bulk loading system and the RF system for packed loadings. In this way Vos Logistics is able to efficiently process a large number of orders.
Terneuzen
In October 2005 the extension of the activities in Terneuzen was realized. An extra fully automatic packaging line, for packaging of product in FFS bags of 25 kilos, has a capacity of 2,000 bags per hour (50 tonnes/hour). This means a direct doubling of capacity at the site in Terneuzen. Parallel to this extension a fully automated debag installation with a capacity of 25 tonnes/hour was brought into use. The number of transport vehicles was also expanded to meet the increased demand of short haul traffic.
The Vos Logistics terminal in Terneuzen, which has been operational since mid-2003, mainly deals with products for its neighbour Dow Chemicals. Vos Logistics handles the storage, packaging and further transport of plastics.
