Transport Minister Derek Twigg announced that he would grant final approval to the proposals for a container port at Bathside Bay, Harwich, Essex. The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister is also issuing a letter today granting approval for the planning applications relating to the same proposal.

- New Five-Building Complex Will Comprise 1.9 Million Square Feet Near Charles De Gaulle Airport -

ProLogis announced it plans to build a major new industrial park next to Charles De Gaulle Airport outside Paris.  The new park will comprise five distribution centers and more than 1.9 million square feet (176,750 square meters) of industrial space, with an expected investment of approximately US$100 million. ProLogis recently signed an agreement to acquire the land for the park; construction of the first three buildings is expected to begin in the first half of 2007.

North Carolina’s Council of State today approved the North Carolina State Ports Authority’s purchase of a 600-acre tract on the west bank of the Cape Fear River in Brunswick County. The land, adjacent to the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point and Progress Energy’s Brunswick Nuclear Plant and zoned for industrial use, is the site of the Ports Authority’s proposed North Carolina International Port (NCIP).

Croatia will begin an infrastructure-improvement project by the end of 2006 that is ambitious enough to be dubbed the "New Deal" by Transport Minister Bozidar Kalmeta. Consisting of an expansion of railways and waterways, the project will position Croatia as the fastest inland route from Asia to Central Europe. The economically favorable project will solve many transportation problems facing the entire region, such as congested transport in the Bosporus and unstable transport through Serbia. And as Croatia begins its accession talks with the European Union, these projects will further solidify its bid.
