Black Enterprise Magazine Releases "The 40 Best Companies for Diversity" UPS has been named to Black Enterprise magazine's list of "The 40 Best Companies for Diversity," which appears in the July 2006 edition.
In recognizing UPS, Black Enterprise cited the company's continued commitment to a multicultural environment indicative of its global reach. The magazine highlighted statistics including 70,000 African Americans in UPS's U.S. workforce, and minorities holding 85 senior management positions, five company board positions, and accounting for 50 percent of new hires last year. Black Enterprise compiled its second annual listing after evaluating diversity programs, consulting with diversity experts and corporate diversity officers, and conducting an extensive survey of more than 1,000 of America's largest publicly traded companies and 50 leading global companies with significant U.S. operations. "The BE 40 Best Companies for Diversity truly understand how critically valuable a diverse workforce and inclusive business practices are to the success of their operations," said Butch Graves, Black Enterprise president and CEO. "These companies are setting the standard for corporate America, and it is our sincere hope that other companies will follow their lead and build businesses that are more reflective of the society in which we live."
