TNT Home, the home delivery arm of TNT Logistics UK, has expanded its business with furniture marketing and design specialist, Scan –Thors (U.K.) Ltd, the exclusive supplier to Debenhams retail stores. From July, TNT Home will undertake the home delivery of Scan –Thors (U.K.) Ltd’scabinet furniture, in addition to the upholstery, which it has been delivering throughout the UK since January this year.
The goods are delivered into TNT Home’s distribution centres at Pensnett, West Midlands and Heywood, North Manchester, for onward delivery to customers’ homes. There is a 28 day lead time from order placement in store to final delivery at customers’ homes, so TNT Home’s call centre staff phone customers to arrange delivery once notification is received that the goods are due in the distribution centres. “We anticipate making about 300 deliveries a week for Scan –Thors (U.K.) Ltdvia the TNT Home network,” says Neil Crossthwaite, TNT Logistics Managing Director. “The shared user fleet is ideal for a company such as Scan –Thors (U.K.) Ltdwhich is seeking to expand its business. We can offer the home delivery expertise and resources it needs at a rate that matches its growth in customers. This provides an extremely efficient and cost-effective logistics solution.” Scan –Thors (U.K.) LtdManaging Director, Martin Kay, says he was so pleased with the initial service which TNT Home offered for the upholstery goods that he had no hesitation expanding the contract to include the cabinet furniture as well. “Our customers are happy, which is the main thing.
