Pacer to Expand Warehousing Capability Nationwide Through Strategic Relationship with Efill America Print
Pacer Distribution Services (PDS), Inc., the warehousing and distribution unit of Pacer International, Inc. (Nasdaq:PACR), said it will expand its warehousing capability to a national scope through a strategic alliance with Efill America, Inc. (Efill). Efill, which operates more than 50 million square feet of warehouse capacity in approximately 100 cities, is one of the nation's largest providers of warehousing space and services.

According to Kent Prokop, president of PDS, the agreement also opens the door for PDS and other Pacer operating companies, including Pacer Global Logistics, Inc., based in Dublin, Ohio, to provide transportation and logistics services to Efill's customers.

PDS itself operates more than 800,000 square feet of warehousing and cross-dock capacity in the Los Angeles area, the primary gateway for Asian imports to the United States. Its affiliates provide trucking, rail brokerage, intermodal and other transportation and supply-chain management services.

"This is a win-win situation for all parties," Prokop said. "Many retailers and manufacturers today are looking for single-source warehouse providers with an extensive or nationwide geographic reach, or for a provider with a strong regional presence that can still offer highly customized service, and especially they want access to centralized network-wide inventory tracking. We can now provide all those warehousing capabilities.

"At the same time, Efill and its customers will also have access to our Southern California facilities and to the extensive menu of services offered by other Pacer companies," added Prokop. "We look forward to working with Efill to offer compelling solutions for warehousing and logistics customers."

John Oren, Efill's chief executive officer, noted: "We are thrilled with this agreement because Pacer Distribution Services and the Pacer group are recognized leaders in North America freight transportation and logistics services. By leveraging our respective capabilities, both companies bring more value to their respective customers."
