NYK Logistics (UK) Ltd has been awarded the title of ‘Best Service Provider’ by Tesco in its first international Supplier Value Awards. NYK is one of two international supply chain partners to Tesco, managing the flow of products and information from vendors in the Far and Middle East and Europe into Tesco’s Central European and UK distribution networks. Having worked with Tesco for the last seven years, the NYK Logistics operation has grown substantially from the management of just 600 containers in 1999 to a projected 30,000 in 2006.
Under the stewardship of NYK’s dedicated Account Director, Greg Takahashi and Account Manager, Scott Shergold, the operation involves NYK businesses in 13 countries throughout Asia and Europe and employs 70 people. Awarded by Tesco’s International Sourcing Division, the award recognises the quality, flexibility and consistency of the service provided by NYK Logistics and the strategic nature of NYK’s partnership with Tesco. Tesco International Sourcing & Logistics Director, Christophe Roussel, said: "The growth of Tesco’s International Sourcing Division has been both rapid and significant, and the awards have been created to recognise the role of our key suppliers in achieving this continued growth. Following the success of this year’s event, we intend that these will be held annually "The award to NYK is well-deserved and recognises a longstanding, strategic and profitable partnership between our two organisations."
