Recently voted the world’s leading consumer electronics brand and one of the world’s Top 100 brands overall, Samsung has entrusted its entire UK consumer products supply chain to NYK Logistics with a new three year contract. Building on NYK’s existing business for Samsung’s consumer electronics, mobile phone and camera divisions, the new three year contract is for the nationwide distribution of Samsung’s white goods product ranges.

 
In addition to customs clearance, inland haulage, receipt, storage, picking and dispatch and trade deliveries, NYK’s dedicated Home Services team is also responsible for Samsung’s extensive home delivery operation from booking deliveries via an on-site call centre, customer liaison, delivery to customers’ homes and product installation, providing a complete UK supply chain solution.
 
The Samsung operation currently occupies 90,000 sq ft at NYK’s Marston Gate distribution centre and employs around 30 staff across the warehousing and distribution operations. Two members of Samsung’s management team are also based on site at Marston Gate.
 
In addition to Samsung, NYK’s Home Services operation provides a similar service for Electrolux and Maytag. As the public face of these manufacturers, NYK’s staff must not only be excellent drivers but also acquire a range of technical and customer service skills to deliver the highest quality service. To this end, NYK has invested in a full-time trainer and fully fitted training kitchen on-site at Marston Gate.
  
The longstanding and successful partnership between NYK and Samsung Electronics UK combined with NYK’s ability to provide a comprehensive and proven home delivery service were important factors in awarding the new contract.
