With reference to the recent public announcements regarding the public offer by A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S for all ordinary shares of Royal P&O Nedlloyd N.V., A. P. Moller - Maersk A/S announces, that per the expiration of the acceptance period on 4 August 2005, 51.5 % of all outstanding ordinary shares of Royal P&O Nedlloyd N.V. have been tendered.

To this can be added 19.1% of the share capital in Royal P&O Nedlloyd N.V. currently held by A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S, and the aggregate 25% of the share capital, held by Danske Bank and Nordea Bank Danmark, for which A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S today has exercised its purchase option.
 In total, these shares represent 95.6 % of the total share capital of Royal P&O Nedlloyd N.V. A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S will within five business days of the Copenhagen Stock Exchange make a public announcement regarding acceptance of the offer.
