As predicted at the time of E.U enlargement in 2004, Davies Turner has experienced considerable growth in demand for its transportation services between the UK and Poland, and has increased the frequency of its overland trailer services to Poland in response.
From twice weekly, Davies Turner's services from the UK to Poland now depart every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with delivery approximately two working days later at Raben Logistics' terminal. "That's effectively a daily operation," claims Davies Turner's Joint Managing Director, Philip Stephenson. "As good as, if not better, than many so-called express operators. "As we predicted two years ago, the UK is an increasingly important supplier as well as a market for Poland. The country's accession to the EU has made possible faster border crossings and an overall improvement in transit times. Our partner in Poland, Raben Logistics, is also experiencing increased traffic, with additional transit traffic through Warsaw to the Baltic States, plus Ukraine." In the UK, cargo can be accepted at any Davies Turner depot, and a network of vehicles for local collections and deliveries is available covering the entire country. Mr Stephenson added: "Retailers and importers are looking to cut inventory, so there is more demand now for high-frequency services capable of delivering a single pallet-load or even smaller quantities on a just-in-time basis. "In Poland, our partner provides delivery from its main hub at Poznan to any destination in the country within 24 hours of arrival at its depot. Raben Logistics is one of Poland's leading freight forwarding and logistics companies, employing over 1500 staff at its network of hubs right across the country. From Poland to the UK, Davies Turner continues to offer direct twice-weekly import services from Warsaw, Poznan and the industrial south of the country, including Wroclaw, Katowice and Krakow. In addition to its Polish services, Davies Turner offers a complete range of groupage, full and part load services between the UK and the rest of Central & Eastern Europe including the Baltic States, Ukraine and the Balkans, connecting with its network of overseas partners around the world. source Press release
