The UAE arm of DHL has announced an exclusive tie-up with Apacer, a global manufacturer of memory module and digital storage devices. Under the terms of the agreement, DHL UAE will develop a customized end-to-end supply chain solution for Apacer. The DPWN subsidiary will effectively open the door to a stream of hi-tech components into the UAE, and from there to the rest of the Middle East.
Through its Direct Express Inventory service, DHL will ensure secure storage and effective dispatch of Apacer's products to meet Apacer’s customers demands.
“This contract win with one of the biggest niche manufacturers in the world is a triumph for the unique capabilities of DHL's Direct Express Inventory service, which has been providing support to various businesses across the region for the past two years,” said David Wild, general manager for DHL UAE.
This premium service allows clients to concentrate on their core competencies, which for Apacer means manufacturing, while DHL provides the supply chain solution that ensures their logistic requirements are achieved effectively. The service effectively dispenses with the need for manufacturers to set up an independent operation but enables them to meet the needs of remote customers.
The partnership will see DHL assume full responsibility for ensuring that UAE orders for Apacer's goods manufactured in Taiwan are delivered on time. Apacer's own sales people will secure the orders in the UAE before passing on the details to DHL that warehouses the stock and keeps its inventory.
Dirk van Doorn, DHL UAE's logistics manager, said the DHL’s relationship with Apacer through DHL Taiwan played a crucial role in securing this contract. “Our high quality customer service level and competitive pricing were key to winning this contract. Our ability to offer high turnaround from order placement to dispatch, and excellent inbound transit time on air freight were also contributory factors.” (Source:eyefortransport)
