Allport's freight management contract with Asda has been extended to cover its globally sourced beers, wines and spirits (BWS) imports, bringing the total business managed annually to more than 25,000 containers.
Supply chain management director at Allport, Danny Clayton, commented. "The beverage logistics industry is highly specialised and historically dominated by a few suppliers. Launching into this sector will generate renewed competition and provide vital support to Asda's objective to grow its BWS offering as successfully as it has achieved with its general merchandise. The opportunity to work with Asda in a new market sector is particularly exciting and we look forward to the challenge of exceeding Asda's expectations."
