Rolls-Royce Aero Repair and Overhaul (AR&O) has signed a new agreement for complete engine overhaul with Monarch Aircraft Engineering Ltd. This new contract covers Monarch Airlines’ fleet of Rolls-Royce RB211-535s for the Boeing 757, and International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500 engines for Airbus A320 family aircraft.
The deal is worth up to £40 million over the next five years. Work on Monarch’s RB211s will be carried out at the Rolls-Royce AR&O facility in Derby, while the V2500s will be overhauled at the company’s site in East Kilbride. The two companies have enjoyed an ongoing relationship since 1991 when the first engine maintenance contract began. John Paterson, Managing Director, Aero Repair and Overhaul at Rolls-Royce, said: “This is an important decision that recognises Monarch’s ongoing confidence in the ability of Rolls-Royce to deliver high value, high quality levels of service. We are delighted that Monarch has chosen to extend its relationship with us.” Derek Gibson, Commercial Director at Monarch Aircraft Engineering, added: “Our decision to continue our relationship with Rolls-Royce was based on our experience of working with the company for the last 15 years. As the original manufacturer, Rolls-Royce is in the best position to provide us with an optimum maintenance solution for its engines.”
