Amsterdam Schiphol again honoured with Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards |

Readers of Cargonews Asia have once again voted Amsterdam Airport Schiphol as 'Best Airport in Europe' and 'Best Air Cargo Terminal Operator in Europe'. The Asian Freight and Supply Chain 2006 awards were presented to mr Lody Embrechts, Dutch Ambassador in Malaysia at an award ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur.
Asia is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol's largest market. Cargo volume at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol grew modestly in 2005. Amsterdam Airport Schiphol handled 1.45 million tonnes of cargo in 2005, up by 2.0% over 2004. With a growth of 6,7 % or approximately 38,430 tonnes Asia showed above average growth in 2005. Eleven cargo airlines currently operate direct full-freighter cargo services to Asia from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. They are Asiana Airlines, China Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Dragonair, JAL Cargo, KLM, Korean Air, Malaysia Airlines, Martinair, Nippon Cargo Airlines and Singapore Airlines. Key Asian destinations include Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur. The airport has received over 120 international awards for its acclaimed passenger and cargo facilities since 1980 from various international organizations and publications.
